(Santiago de Chile, SoloAzar Exclusive).- Samer Atassi, vice president of Jumio for Latin America, granted an interview to SoloAzar during his presentation at the recent CGS Latam 2022 event. There he spoke about the company's news, the Chilean market and prospects for this year, among other issues.

´The Jumio KYC (Know Your Customer) Platform is a perfect fit for the online gaming and betting industry´: Samer Atassi, Jumio

What novelties were presented at the CGS event?

We had the pleasure to talk about the Jumio KYC (Know Your Customer) Platform, which is perfectly suited to the online betting and gaming industry. Through it, we offer state-of-the-art identity verification and anti-money laundering solutions that help online gaming operators verify the age and identity of players, which is one of the most important compliance factors. At the same time, our platform helps keep the user experience secure and frictionless, helping to improve conversion rates. In addition, Jumio KYC helps prevent access by cybercriminals.

Correctly verifying the age of the players reduces the participation of minors. In this way, online casinos and gaming sites can ensure that they comply with the legal requirements of each country, while providing a smooth onboarding process and the best experience possible. Operators can screen new players and detect potential offenders through an easy-to-use biometric authentication process to protect those that are most vulnerable to online fraud and identity theft.

Additionally, our onboarding process helps players correct course and retake a selfie or photo of their ID if the initial image is unreadable, increasing conversion rates by 15%-20%. This also means that operators can guarantee that the player is who they say they are, with a very high level of certainty.

What did you think of the event? What were the highlights of this new edition?

We were particularly excited to participate in the panel on the growing role of fintechs in the future of gaming, specifically on payment methods, because it is crucial for players to know that their winnings are safe and that no one can access them. Providing this level of security and convenience is key to the continued success of online gaming and betting in the region.

Chile is one of the most important markets in Latin America. What is your position in this market and what are your goals in Chile?

We have seen a growing interest in digital identity in the region, as well as in identity verification, electronic KYC (know your customer) solutions and anti-money laundering solutions, and our numbers prove it: we achieved 300% growth in Latin America last year.

It's also important to note that we have key customers and partners in Chile, so it's definitely one of our key markets in Latin America.

What prospects does Jumio have for the rest of the year?

We are very excited about 2022 and beyond. In online games and gambling alone, Latin America is a market with great potential. It represents more than 260 million players and is expected to generate more than 3.6 billion dollars in revenue by 2023, according to the Newzoo Global Games Market 2020 Report.

When it comes to online gambling, VIXIO GamblingCompliance estimated that by 2025, worldwide revenue would reach $2.6 billion.

Jumio is trusted by major gaming operators around the world, and online gaming and betting is also fast becoming a key industry for us in this region.

A project to regulate online gambling in Chile continues to advance. How do you think the law will influence the activity of the company and the sector?

We believe that the fact that Chile has recently published its Online Gambling and Betting Law will result in greater interest in the country from different operators and fintechs and that, in turn, places us in a unique position to provide customized solutions. from end to end, that not only address KYC (know your customer) and anti-money laundering regulations, but also provide a seamless, friction-free, and secure customer experience.
